by isleofman.com 12th July 2010

THE three World Superbike Championship riders with homes in the Island featured prominently in yesterday's races in Brno in the Czech Republic.

Ten Kate Honda rider Jonathan Rea - who is from Northern Ireland but now lives in Castletown - won the first race ahead of championship leader Max Biaggi, of Italy, and Englishman Cal Crutchlow, who lives in Ramsey.

Jonathan was second behind Aprilia mounted Biaggi in the second race, with Michel Fabrizio, of Italy, finishing third on his factory Ducati.

Cal, riding for the Yamaha Sterilgarda squad, had qualified on pole for the races.

He only finished 14th in the second race after having to change his rear tyre during the race.

His teammate - Port Soderick based Englishman James Toseland - who has won the World Superbike Championship twice, finished seventh in the first race and fourth in the second race.
