Should the Island have parking meters?

Could we see parking meters on the Island’s streets?

That’s just one idea being looked at by the Department of infrastructure as it tries to find more savings in the wake of the VAT deal changes with the UK.

Minister Phil Gawne says although he understands charging for on-street parking would be unpopular, all possibilities have to be considered.

He adds that a team is already looking at proposals and will report back in the near future with its conclusions.
