Store says shop local to boost economy

by isleofman.com 9th July 2010

As Tesco considers it's next move after having expansion plans for their Island store turned down, another large supermarket on the Island has launched a "think local" initiative.

Chief Executive of Shoprite, Andrew Thomas, claims that after the VAT changes announced last year it's now vitally important for the Island's economy that people shop with businesses based on the Island.

He says by spending money with local businesses the Island benefits more economically in the long run.

Tesco announced on Wednesday that it's Isle of Man store would now remain open until midnight every day except Sunday.
