Union boss backs pension move

Union bosses say they fully support moves to make MHKs pay something towards their pensions.

Bill Malarkey MHK will next week ask Tynwald to approve new rules which would see politicians pay five per cent of their salary towards the retirement pot.

Angela Moffatt of Prospect says it’s time those governing the Island shared in the pain as public sector workers face pay freezes and significant changes to their pensions.

And she claims those at the top have an astoundingly generous pension scheme.
