Compromise required in Tesco case

by isleofman.com 8th July 2010

A compromise approach was required over plans to expand Tesco in Douglas.

The supermarket failed in its bid to enlarge its Douglas store after the Council of Ministers agreed with an independent inspector that the application be refused due to traffic issues.

It was felt Tesco had failed to show it could accommodate the extra traffic such an expansion would generate.

However, some shoppers are unhappy.

Economic Development Minister Allan Bell can see both sides of the argument.
