by isleofman.com 8th July 2010

The Laxey Valley has been named in a shortlist of contenders to become a new world heritage site.

It was submitted along with 37 other attractions by UK government ministers yesterday (Wednesday).

Others included in the proposal are listed in today’s Daily Telegraph.

If accepted, the valley will join the likes of The Great Barrier Reef and The Statue of Liberty in world heritage status.
