An out of control bonfire, which was belching great plumes of smoke into the air, prompted a call-out for Peel fire crews last night.
They were alerted to the blaze, in the Knockaloe Beg area, at 8pm.
When crews located the fire they found it had tyres on it, which were producing the thick black smoke.
Crews brought the fire under control quickly but stayed there for a further hour damping down the area with the assistance of a water carrier from Douglas.
Station officer Carl Kinvig says before you have a garden rubbish or bonfire you should inform the Emergency Services Joint Control Room on 697327.
