South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey thinks so and will ask members to start paying five per cent of their salary into the pot.
At Tynwald’s July sitting, his motion will be put to a vote – possibly ending the non-contributory pension scheme currently enjoyed by politicians.
He says it’s about setting an example as the government asks people to bear the pains of economic hardship.
