Peel footbridge: faults after four years

by isleofman.com 7th July 2010

The Department of Infrastructure says it’ll investigate why bearings have failed on Peel’s harbour footbridge just four years after it was built.

Repair work to replace the rear bearings is underway after work on the front bearings revealed both sets were wearing out.

Political member for the Department of Infrastructure, Graham Cregeen MHK, says the bearings were designed to last for the bridge’s entire lifespan.

And he says there’ll now be an investigation to find out what’s gone wrong.
