Action awaited on Tynwald petitions

by isleofman.com 6th July 2010

Complaints procedures within the health service and legal aid department in the Isle of Man have been called into question.

At this year's Tynwald Day ceremony, three Petitions for Redress of Grievance were presented.

The first concerned the rights of freeholders in sheltered accommodation, the other two deal with the issue of raising complaints.

One of those centres on private and NHS patients not having the same access to complaints procedures.

The other, brought by Paul Smith, focuses on the difficulties of complaining about how legal funds are distributed.

He told Manx Radio it was a matter of great public interest.
