Warm welcome for retired MP

by isleofman.com 5th July 2010

He’s been in the headlines on the Island but hasn’t visited for 16 years until today (Monday).

Former MP Andrew McKinlay stood down at the last general election in the UK but was instrumental in a campaign to save the Island’s reciprocal health agreement.

His outspoken campaign won the hearts of many here and eventually led former UK health secretary Andy Burnham to change his mind about scrapping the deal.

Mr McKinlay says he’s glad to be at the Tynwald Day celebrations and the rest of the world could learn from the Isle of Man.
