The operation to restore mains gas supplies to homes and businesses in Castletown and Colby continues this morning (Thursday).
Engineers have worked through the night after 'Towns' gas was cut off to 740 properties yesterday afternoon, after a valve collapsed at the Port St Mary production plant.
Eight gas service engineers are being flown-in from Jersey and Guernsey at lunchtime, to help colleagues at Manx Gas visit every property affected.
Last night, customers were told to turn off their gas supply at the meter and not to use any gas appliances.
Manx Gas says it will ensure supplies are restored safely to each property.
Acting Managing Director is Robert Gardner.
A help centre is open at Castletown Civic Centre.
If you are able, turn off your gas supply at the meter – this will enable the gas to be reconnected more quickly when it is safe to do so.
You’re urged to call 644444 if there is anything you need or if you have a friend, relative or neighbour who has any special requirements.
LPG customers are not affected.
