Police pay tribute to sexual abuse victims

by isleofman.com 1st July 2010

Manx police have paid tribute to the bravery of the victims of what has been described as the most horrifying case of sexual abuse ever seen in the Isle of Man.

On Monday, a 58-year-old man was found guilty of over 30 counts of severe sexual abuse against one male and three female victims, committed over a ten year period starting in the mid-1970s.

Detective Sergeant Catherine Bradley of the Public Protection Unit says, given the nature of the crimes, it took a great deal of bravery for the victims to come forward in the first place.

The man is not being named in order to protect the anonymity of the victims.
