College principal hopes for redundancy alternative

The principal of the Isle of Man College says he's hopeful there'll be no need for redundancies in their catering staff.

It comes in the after it was revealed the refectory has an annual defecit of over one-hundred and eighty thousand pounds.

Education minister Eddie Teare has directed the college to reduce costs - by cutting jobs if necessary.

However the college's principal, Dr Ian Killip, says he and the staff are looking for ways of making the cafe profitable without sacking anyone:
