Mel Quine Passes Away

by isleofman.com 30th June 2010

Long-time member of the Isle of Man Billiards and Snooker Association Mel Quine has passed away.

He served the Association as a player, Treasurer, Competition Secretary and Press Officer for over 40 years.

He was also one of the first qualified referees on the island holding all grades including examiner and tutor.

During his playing career, Mel won various individual and team competitions.

He was a member of the first Isle of Man team at the Home Internationals in Prestatyn in 1979.

With all his refereeing and coaching duties, Mel became known as the face of Isle of Man snooker.

The Association says Mel will be sorely missed and it's thoughts are with his wife Fran who supported everything he did.
