Langness saga to be decided in court

by isleofman.com 30th June 2010

The Langness saga will be decided in the High Court.

Seven objections, including ones from Jeremy Clarkson and Castletown Golf Links owner Graham Ferguson Lacey, have been lodged following the public inquiry report into rights of way at the southern beauty spot.

It means that despite the report recommending a number of paths on the Langness peninsula be reinstated as public rights of way – the court will have the final say.

The inquiry was sparked when TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson diverted a path around his lighthouse holiday home.

He claimed there had never been any rights of way across the land, but local residents using the footpath for decades disagreed.

The Minister who ordered the inquiry David Anderson says changes can not be made to the paths until the High Court decision.
