New senior officer for Isle of Man Prison Service

by isleofman.com 28th June 2010

PRISON officer Mark Haynes has been promoted to senior officer.

Mark, 42, joined the Prison Service in 2005. A former soldier, he hails from south Manchester and worked for 12 years in the printing industry before moving to the Island when his wife, who works in the finance sector, got a job here.

His promotion will see him become one of 14 discipline senior officers at Jurby, responsible for managing a residential wing of the prison.

Outside work Mark likes to ride an enduro motorcycle on the Island’s green lanes, and enjoys taking part in off road events at Easter and in autumn.

He said: "I appreciate working in the professional environment of the Island’s prison. It is a wonderful facility and I am proud to be working in the Isle of Man Prison Service.

"I look forward to the challenges that running a residential wing will bring day to day. I came to the Island in support of my wife’s career and I can’t think of a better place to live. I feel very fortunate."

Head of business operations at the prison Michelle Mitchell said: "Mark has worked hard for this promotion and his skills were very clearly demonstrated throughout the assessment centre and interview process. Mark’s achievement of senior officer level is very well deserved."
