Isle of Man marks Armed Forces Day

Today is Armed Forces Day here on the Isle of Man, and a chance for the Island to salute its service men and women.

What used to be Veterans Day was renamed as of last year to recognise those still serving, and their families.

Soldiers, sailors and airmen and women will gather for a parade from Regent Street in Douglas at 3.15pm.

A service will be held in the Villa Marina at 4pm, with brass band music and tea to follow at 5pm.

A dance and concert rounds off Armed Forces Day this evening from 6 - 9.30pm.

Before all that a Dakota fly past is scheduled for 12 noon.

The Royal British Legion's Major Charles Wilson says the Island should be proud of its contribution to the armed forces:
