LLOYDS TSB is inviting entries for the second quarter of the Small Change – Big Difference campaign which offers local organisations the opportunity to win cash awards of £1,000.
Designed to help local community groups make an immediate impact on surroundings, the campaign has reopened and Lloyds TSB is on the lookout for another community group that can make a compelling case for the £1,000 award.
As with the first round, won by Kemmyrk, any not-for-profit organisation that can demonstrate an active involvement in its local community can apply for the £1,000 grant. Applicants need not be registered charities but should be able to demonstrate a long-standing and ongoing involvement in community life on the Island.
The judges intend that the award is used to purchase new, or replace existing, equipment or other items that will make a real and lasting difference to the work of the organisation. Lucy Felton, business development manager for Lloyds TSB on The Isle of Man, said, “We received some fantastic applications for the first round of Small Change Big Difference and are excited to be making the call for entries again.
“We are certain that the judging of round two will be just as tough, given the superb work that local groups and charities are doing in the community. The competition is running every quarter of this year and if you didn’t enter in time for last quarter’s deadline, now is your chance to try.”
Midnight Wednesday June 30th, is the deadline for the second round of applications to Small Change – Big Difference. If any local community organisations would like to enter then they should submit their application to: yourjourney@lloydstsb-offshore.com, explaining what the organisation currently does for the community and how £1000 will make a difference to the people it serves.
Kemmyrk, which won the first round of Small Change Big Difference on the Isle of Man, is a charity which exists to relieve hardship and distress amongst homeless people and those living in adverse living conditions.
Their £1,000 grant will go towards the ‘Peer Education Scheme’ where young people who have experienced homelessness, visit the Island’s secondary schools and youth organisations to discuss the realities of being homeless and the options available to people who find themselves in this position.
