Health stats to drive future policy

The Manx government has pledged to act on worrying statistics revealed by a poll on the state of the Manx public's health.

As reported on Manx Radio news yesterday, the Isle of Man Health and Lifestyle Survey has found, among other things, that more than 50% of the population is overweight or obese and 10% admit to regularly drinking what are considered hazardous amounts of alcohol.

Consultant in Public Health Dr Paul Emerson says the stats give them a good base to work from:
