A HEROIN addict convicted of being involved in the importation of drugs has been jailed for three years by Deemster Doyle.
Thirty-year-old Nicholas Bernard Noon and his 23-year-old wife Shelley appeared at a Court of General Gaol along with James Mark Nixon of Liverpool.
Nixon was jailed for six years after admitting importing and supplying drugs.
Nicholas Bernard Noon admitted being involved in the importation of drugs and possessing cannabis resin.
His wife also admitted being involved in the importation of drugs and was given an 18-month prison term suspended for two years.
Linda Watts, prosecuting, said Nixon arrived on the Island by boat in June and met with another man at the Hilton Hotel.
They drove to Governors Hill, where police – who had the duo under surveillance – detained Nixon and Noon.
Officers found £5,300 and mobile phones in the vehicle and a computer containing a ticklist, small amounts of cannabis and drugs paraphernalia at Noon's home in Farrants Park, Castletown.
Deemster Doyle said the aggravating factors in the case were the quantity and type of drugs involved and told the defendants people dealing drugs had to face the consequences.
Nixon was also banned from Island for five years from the completion of his jail term.
