Baines trial date set

Trevor Baines and his wife Wendy have appeared in court to deny stealing ?925,000 and obtaining ?40,000 by deception.

Mr Baines, aged 70, and his 52-year-old wife appeared before Deemster Doyle at a Court of General Gaol Delivery.

They denied all the allegations against them, which are said to have been committed between 2008 and 2009.

Mr Baines was remanded in custody, while Mrs Baines was bailed to her home in Woodbourne Road, Douglas.

Their advocate, 29-year-old Jenny Holt, also appeared in court charged with doing acts against public justice and falsifying or concealing documents.

She denies all charges, which are said to have been carried out in August last year.

A trial date was set for January 10 next year, and the hearing is expected to last three weeks.
