A leading water quality expert on the Island says claims the IRIS project isn’t helping improve beaches are wrong.
Dr Phil Styles, a freshwater biologist at the Government Laboratory, says recent surveys by the Marine Conservation Society were highly critical of our beaches and water quality.
In particular, the damning MCS report claimed the IRIS project wasn’t helping the situation as had been promised when it was started.
But Dr Styles carefully monitors the Island’s waterways, and says those claims simply aren’t true:
