'Disgust' as riders allegedly ignored flags at crash scene

by isleofman.com 16th June 2010

The team of a rider killed in last Thursday's Supersport TT has withdrawn from racing with immediate effect.

New Zealander Paul Dobbs crashed at Ballagarey, Marown.

Team owner Neil Hallett has issued a strongly worded statement.

Tim Glover reports (text, below, from attached audio file):

In the statement, Neil Hallett says his immediate thoughts are with Dobsy's wife Bridget and the two girls.

He also praises the actions of fellow competitor Paul Owen who stopped at the scene to help the marshals.

However, Neil Hallett expresses his 'utter disgust' for riders who allegedly went through at race speed under waved yellow flags.

He says: 'They know who they are and their huge ego's will never let them realise what they did, but I do hope that someone in the organising group can bring some of these people to some kind of justice. It can’t help Paul but it could stop an even bigger tragedy the next time there is a serious incident.'

Manx Radio is attempting to get a statement from the Auto Cycle Union on the yellow flag issue raised by Neil Hallett.
