There's still no date set for the Isle of Man to join the Rio Convention on bio-diversity.
The former Department of Agriculture went out to full consultation on the issue and an overwhelming majority of respondents were in favour of the Island signing up.
A total of 192 countries have agreed to the convention, including all of Europe and the British Isles and many small island states, such as the Marshall Islands and Tonga.
Minister for the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture John Shimmin is recommending to the Council of Ministers that the Island should sign up, but told Tynwald he was currently unable to put a date on exactly when it would happen (play audio file):
Mr Shimmin has made it clear to his colleagues funds will need to be available when the Isle of Man signs the Rio Convention.
