'Lucky man' Guy ready to go home

by isleofman.com 16th June 2010

Less than a week after his horrifying crash during the Senior TT, Guy Martin is preparing to leave Noble's Hospital and return home.

The Lincolnshire rider was described on Friday as a 'lucky man' by the consultant who treated him at Accident and Emergency.

He suffered back injuries, broken ribs and a punctured lung after the high speed crash at Ballagarey.

Although he has some way to go to make a full recovery, he is up and about and well enough for discharge.

Guy says he has been overwhelmed by the support he has had from the public and has nothing but praise for the medical and nursing care he has received (play audio file):

Ramsey rider Conor Cummins remains in Noble's, where he is being treated for back, arm and knee injuries, and well as bruising to the lungs.

On Tuesday, he released a statement paying tribute to the staff at Noble's for their 'brilliant' care, and thanking the public for the many messages of goodwill he had received.
