Tynwald asked to approve spending of more than ?10.5 million

Tynwald will today be asked to approve the spending of just over ?10.5 million for work on the Janet's corner redevelopment scheme in Castletown.

The court will also be asked for ?872,000 for work on the Bradda refurbishment scheme and ?700,000 to upgrade the electrical infrastructure at Noble's Hospital.

There are 24 questions for oral answer in Tynwald today and 8 for written answer.

Proxy voting at the recent Douglas East by-election is the subject of three questions from both Onchan MHK Peter Karran and the recently elected MHK for East Douglas Chris Robertshaw.

The cost of replacing Manx Radio's broadcast antennas at Snaefell and why the transmitter network has not been privatised will also be raised. Other topics include the report on the Spadoni case and the Rio Convention.

Proceedings in Tynwald are broadcast live on AM 1368 from 10.30 this morning.
