Island member to see WI single being recorded

A member of the Women's Institute in the Isle of Man is travelling to London next week, for the formation of a new WI singing group which aims to rival Susan Boyle and the Priests in the pop charts!

Local WI members entered a UK-wide competition to find five members of the new group, which will record a version of the hymn Jerusalem in time for Christmas.

Although no Island members made it to the final round, one of the contestants, Paula Gelling, has been invited to Abbey Road Studios to see the single being produced.

The whole event, which includes auditions for the finalists, will be filmed for a TV documentary.

Paula says the idea could really capture the public's imagination:
