Post-TT meeting returns to its traditional form

by isleofman.com 12th June 2010

Road racing enthusiasts will be switching their attention from the mountain course to the Billown circuit today (Saturday).

The Post-TT meeting returns to its traditional form, after organisers of the main event decided not to continue with TT lightweight races on the southern course, after a two year experiment.

Today, five classes of machine, from 125 to 600cc, will compete in three, eight-lap races around the tight four-and-a-quarter-mile circuit.

The Post-TT meeting began in the early 1990s, to entertain visitors waiting to get a boat home, and spokesman for the Southern 100 Club Phil Edge says it has had to reinvent itself yet again (play audio file):

Roads are closed for practice and qualifying sessions between 1pm and 4pm.

Racing begins at 5pm and the roads should reopen no later than 8.30 this evening.

There will be live coverage of the action on Manx Radio, from 1pm.
