Senior TT halted after major Guy Martin accident

by isleofman.com 11th June 2010
A MASSIVE high speed accident in the Senior TT has resulted in Guy Martin receiving serious injuries. He has been flown by helicopter to Noble’s Hospital.

Martin crashed at the very fast Ballagarey Corner in Glen Vine whilst challenging for the lead in the race. He was reported to have sustained chest injuries but was conscious. His bike burst into flames and the race was red-flagged and stopped with local rider Conor Cummins challenging for the lead with John McGuinness.

Ballagarey Corner claimed the life of New Zealand rider Paul Dobbs in yesterday’s Supersport 2 Race. Another rider, Martin Loicht from Austria, also died in the same race after an accident at Quarry Bends.

The Senior TT race was not half way through its six laps; therefore it was decided to run a new 4-lap race, starting at 3pm.

Meanwhile, there has been no report on Guy Martin’s condition .
