Second rider killed in Supersport 2 Race

A SECOND rider was killed in yesterday’s Supersport 2 Race. Martin Loicht, from Austria, died after a crash at Quarry Bends.

Paul Dobbs, from New Zealand, also died in the same race, after a high speed crash at Ballagarey, Glen Vine.

Martin Loicht, 48, was competing in the TT for the first time since the 1990s and also had experience of racing  at the Southern 100. He was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Institute of Technology, Vienna.

He was married with two children.

The Auto-Cycle Union has expressed its deepest regret at Mr Loicht’s death and sympathy to his family and friends.
