Group helps people deal with weight-loss surgery

People in the Isle of Man who have had weight-loss surgery, or who are thinking about it, can find support in an unlikely place.

Members of the Manx chapter of the Weight Loss Surgery Support Group meet at the Archibald Knox Pub in Onchan every fourth Monday of the month, to share experiences and give each other support.

The group is promoting its activities after Martin Blackburn, a well-known civil servant, spoke publicly about his weight-loss surgery.

MeShell Berry, one of the founders, underwent the procedure herself in 2006 and says the chance to talk to people who have been through it is invaluable:
