A veteran Manx politician says he dropped out of the race to regain his seat on the Legislative Council because of the attitude of some members of the House of Keys during the recent LegCo elections.
George Waft served the council for 16 years, and before that was an MHK for Onchan from 1991 to 1994 and a local commissioner for 20 years.
However, he decided he wanted no further involvement because of the widely criticised voting procedure.
Mr Waft describes the behaviour of some MHKs as 'quite farcical':
Three candidates will contest the vacant seat on the Legislative Council, when MHKs take part in another round of voting on June 21.
The latest attempt to require MLCs to face a public vote is being made by member of LegCo David Callister.
