Police dealt with heavy traffic in and around Douglas during Thursday evening's rush hour.
The rescheduled TT race programme, following Wednesday's postponements, meant the roads around the course weren't due to open until around 5.30pm, and commuters were advised to make travel arrangements which avoided the hour from 5pm.
Problems were expected on the main arterial routes in and out of the capital, and particularly on the promenade.
Police said they would try to help everybody get to their destinations as quickly and safely as possible, and asked motorists to show patience and good will at busy times.
Governor's Bridge was expected to open at around 6.30pm, after police said any congestion would ease.
