An 'allotments lottery' held by Douglas Borough Council has seen just 25 winners out of almost 150 applicants.
The Leisure Services Committee invited people to apply for plots and was overwhelmed by the demand.
Chairman Stephen Pitts says names were drawn from a hat after 148 people put their names forward for the first 25 of 50 planned allotments.
However, the second batch won't be ready any time soon, because a vital ingredient is missing and Councillor Pitts is appealing for help:
