POLICE are investigating a stabbing in Douglas at the weekend when a man received serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
The incident happened in the Howard Street area of Douglas at about midnight on Friday June 4th.
Detective Sergeant Andy Pailor said, “A man admitted himself to hospital and was treated for a stab wound to his torso before being discharged. Two people - a 19 year old man and a 16 year old girl - were arrested in relation to the assault.
“They have since been released on Police Station bail whilst enquiries into the matter continue. No one else is being sought in relation to this assault”.
Officers are interested in speaking with anyone who was the Strand Street area and vicinity of Regent Street and Howard Street between 11.00pm on Friday and 1.00am on Saturday and saw group of around five people, one of whom was wearing a distinctive yellow football T-shirt.
Police officers are especially keen to speak with a teenager or young man who was in the area and may have witnessed the assault. This person was wearing a dark coloured hooded top.
Two young men, thought to be Phillipino, were also believed to have been in the vicinity and spoke to members of the group following a scuffle in area of the old Woolworths shop.
