Points system for non-EU workers 'more robust'

New work permit rules for people from countries outside the European Economic Area are designed to strengthen the Isle of Man's control of employment regulations.

So says political member of the Department of Economic Development Geoff Corkish, MHK, after they were announced last week.

A points system will be used to decide whether immigrants from outside Europe will be allowed to work in the Island.

Mr Corkish says the Island's Overseas Labour Scheme needed replacing:
