TT hits Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

by isleofman.com 6th June 2010
THIS year’s TT has a new digital media strategy focusing on raising its profile through social media networks on the internet such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

“Our strategy is based on offering a worldwide platform for people to follow and interact with the TT,” said Duke Marketing managing director Peter Duke. “The new site will significantly contribute to growing the profile of the event and the Island.

The strategy is designed to make the most of social media opportunities such as the Jorge Lorenzo parade lap this year. This will also bring attention to the TT with quotes such as those from Lorenzo who said recently ‘It will be a great honour for me, because this is one of the most famous and epic races; it still keeps all the meaning of real motorcycling and pilots who ride here deserve the biggest respect.’

Martyn Quayle, Minister for Social Care,  acknowledged the importance of an overall media presence commenting on the media contracts given for TT 2010, saying, “Their involvement in the TT will significantly contribute to the development of the event and will help us to achieve our long term objectives for the TT and motorsport on the Island.”
