Safety paramount at Sulby Glen

by isleofman.com 5th June 2010

The Minister for Infrastructure has responded to claims of 'bullying' in the row over safety barriers at the Sulby Glen Hotel.

The owners of the Sulby Glen have for many years placed a rope across the front of the pub on a line - determined in court two years ago - showing where private property becomes highway.

But two weeks ago the Department for Infrastructure informed the pub that metal barriers needed to be in place for this year's TT meeting.

Pub owner Rosie Christian has accused the department of using bullying tactics in their handling of the matter.

Phil Gawne says he sincerely hopes that's not the case but stresses that safety has to be paramount.
