Hutchy's first "big bike" TT win

by isleofman.com 5th June 2010
IAN Hutchinson claimed his first “big bike” TT win when he took the honours in today”s Poker Stars Superbike Race.

Hutchinson, 30, from Yorkshire, took advantage of the retirements of pre-race favourite John McGuinness and Conor Cummins - the man who led the race until he retired with mechanical problems on the 4th lap.

He eventually won by 45 seconds, from Michael Dunlop, with Australian Cameron Donald third.

The race was run at a blistering pace in perfect conditions following a delayed start due to low mist over the TT Grandstand which prevented the rescue helicopters from flying.

Both Cummins and Hutchinson clocked130 mph+ laps in the early stages and the winner’s race average speed was a record 127.502 miles an hour, as he rode the 1000cc Padgett's Honda to glory, giving him his fourth TT win.

Cummins set a new fastest lap for the event, of 131.511mph, on his first lap.
