by isleofman.com 5th June 2010
POLICE have named the rider of the Honda Fireblade motorcycle who was killed in an accident at the Mountain Box yesterday (Friday).

He was 29 year old Mathew Alexander Evans from Shrewsbury.  Mr Evans died as a result of him coming off his motorcycle whilst attempting to negotiate the lefthand bends at the Mountain Box.

Detective Inspector Stephen, who is leading the investigation, said, “It is very sad that a person has lost his life whilst riding on the TT course.

“We are still investigating the cause of the collision and many lines of enquiry are continuing.  It is still unclear if any other vehicle was involved in the incident or on that part of the TT course at the time it occurred.”

The incident occurred between 7.50 am and 8.18 am on Friday morning and police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the blue, red and white coloured Honda Fireblade motorcycle on the approach to the Mountain Box.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 631212
