Complaints lead to review of smoking policy

Outdoor play areas run by Douglas Borough Council are set to become 'no smoking zones'.

Following a number of complaints about parents 'lighting up' in close proximity to young children, signs are to be installed in eleven locations around the town suggesting people might try and resist the temptation.

Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee Stephen Pitts says the reaction from users of the facilities will be monitored, and if the signs don't have the desired effect a tougher approach will be taken:
