Hutchinson all set to challenge McGuinness' Superbike supremacy

by isleofman.com 4th June 2010

It may have been the last night of TT practice, but there was no let-up from many of the riders.

Man of the week Ian Hutchinson went over 130mph twice, topped John McGuinness' fastest lap from earlier in the week and unofficially broke the Superbike lap record in the process.

Form like that makes him the favourite to challenge the Morecambe Missile in tomorrow's Superbike race.

The Ramsey Rocket Conor Cummins was quick on his Superbike too, taking it over 129mph to finish second behind Hutchinson in the night's standings.

Seasoned campaigner Adrian Archibald was just one-tenth of a second behind Conor on his big machine, recording his fastest ever lap around the Mountain Course.

And Ulsterman Michael Dunlop went incredibly close to unofficially breaking the Supersport lap record on his 600cc Yamaha, before doing his fastest ever TT lap at over 128mph on the bike he'll take out tomorrow.

The Superbike race is scheduled to start at midday tomorrow, with the Sidecar 1 race pencilled in for 3pm.
