BallaAfrica's 'Big Swim' on Saturday

Nine fundraisers are preparing to swim 47 miles across the Irish Sea, from Barrow-in-Furness to Laxey, this weekend.

Saturday will see the culmination of nine months of planning for a relay-style event, in which each member of the team will swim for half an hour at a time.

The marathon effort is in aid of the Manx charity BallaAfrica, whose main project is to build a community centre on the outskirts of Pretoria in South Africa.

Two of the team, Heather Mattocks and Eleanor Humphreys, are getting very excited:
