The Isle of Man Special Olympics athletics team is celebrating after picking up an impressive medal haul at the 25th anniversary games in Gibraltar.

They won seven golds, two silvers and one bronze in the Victoria Park Stadium last night.

Fifteen-year-old Peter Taylor was the pick of the bunch with three golds, in the long jump in his category, 100 metres and as part of the victorious relay team.

Stephen Molnar from Port Erin also picked up team gold in the event, to add to his gold in the long jump, where he set a new personal best of 4.37 metres.

Molnar also grabbed a silver in the 200 metres.

Castletown's Duncan Watterson, who was making his debut for the Island, won gold in the shot putt and the relay and a silver in the 200 metres.

There was also a great Isle of Man debut for last minute replacement Glen Leece.

He won gold in the 100 metres in his category, the relay and silver in the long jump.

Meanwhile the Isle of Man football team won a bronze in their competition.

They beat Spain 3-2, but lost to the hosts 4-1 and went down 9-4 against Iceland.
