The minister for home affairs says he's surprised at concerns raised over the loss of a family mediation service in the Isle of Man.
After 20 months, the Children's Centre says it can no longer meet the running costs and has appealed for financial assistance.
The service has been settling disputes in family break-ups without the need for court action, and yesterday Deemster Andrew Corlett made public a letter to the department in which he expressed dismay at its loss.
But Mr Earnshaw say both parties were consulted over plans to create a new mediation service and offer specialist training for mediators.
