Fourth spot for Lloyd in Indy 500

by isleofman.com 31st May 2010

It looked like a third-place finish in Sunday's Indy 500 for former Island resident Alex Lloyd.

In the end, the former Isle of Man Young Sportsman of the Year had to settle for fourth.

Lloyd and two other drivers moved down one spot each after a video review showed three cars illegally passed Marco Andretti in the closing stages who moved from sixth to third as a result.

Scot Dario Franchitti outduelled England's Dan Wheldon to win his second Indianapolis.

Lloyd joined the Indy Pro Series in 2006 after his family sold their Port Soderick home to help fund his bid.
