Voters go to the polls in the Douglas East by election today (Thursday), with five polling stations open for twelve hours until 8pm.

The election follows the elevation of Phil Braidwood to the Legislative Council, and has attracted six candidates.

Returning Officer Chris Cope says polling stations will close promptly, and is urging people to cast their votes in good time (play audio file):

There will be live coverage from the count at Douglas Town Hall on Manx Radio this evening.
