Swift action needed against 'social cancer'

An MHK says legislation to protect tenants from what he calls 'abuse' in the private rental market isn't coming in quickly enough.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran claims some people are paying good money for accommodation which isn't fit for human habitation.

At Tuesday's sitting of the House of Keys he asked about the time scale for implementing new laws to protect the vulnerable in the community.

Mr Karran claims it's 'a social cancer':
