TWO groups of high profile journalists from the UK and Ireland have been recent visitors to the Isle of Man.
The first visit was from Ireland and included the Irish Mail on Sunday, The Sunday World, the Irish News of the World, Travel Extra and The Star. A team of ten also visited from the ITV Granada Newsroom and the party included presenters Fred Talbot, the weather forecaster, and Tony Morris, Granada Reports presenter.
Tony Morris said, “I can speak for all my colleagues when I say we had a wonderful time on the Isle of Man and much of that was down to the wonderful welcome we were given. The Island has wonderful castles, museums, great food and beautiful scenery....even the weather was sorted out for us!”
Geoff Corkish MBE MHK, Political Member for Isle of Man Tourism, said, “Visits such as these are so valuable for tourism in the Isle of Man, bringing us positive exposure through the travel experts first hand experience of what the Island has to offer.
“We must remember that we have much to offer the tourist who is searching for somewhere enjoyable and different. We have one of the best heritage products in the British Isles, our own cuisine, many unique attractions, stunning countryside and much, much more.”
The Isle of Man is set to gain plenty of national coverage during the next few months as a result of press trips. Many more media visits by UK and international journalists are planned for this year some of which include the Independent on Sunday, Dive Magazine, Heritage Magazine, North West Evening Mail, Bike Radar and Outdoor Adventure (covering the End to End Challenge) and Lincolnshire Echo.
Isle of Man Tourism said it remains grateful to its partners, including the carriers, hotels and others in the industry, who enable Isle of Man Tourism to achieve much with limited resources. “The Island’s PR and advertising campaigns are working in tandem to ensure that the right messages are being conveyed in the UK about the Isle of Man as a destination.”
